SKM Therapy and Consulting

Welcome to therapy!
A warm and collaborative space where you can be yourself, explore your strengths, and discover new ways to move through your life with greater ease

Hi, I'm Sarah (she/her)! I'm a therapist, book lover, art appreciator, nerd, and someone who deeply appreciates connecting with friends and family over a delicious meal.

I work with adults (18+) who are managing OCD, anxiety, or depression, developing their identity, navigating life transitions, or trying to figure out how to cope with being a human in 2026.

I welcome, affirm, and support LGBTQ+ and ENM folks in my practice!

I am accepting new clients!
You can email me at SKMTherapy@protonmail.com to set up a free, 15-minute consultation call to see if we would be a good fit or to schedule your first appointment!

Therapy with me
There can be many reasons to start therapy. I often work with people who may be . . .

-
stressed by what is happening in the world today and want to figure out how to show up for yourself and care for others
-
experiencing obsessions and compulsions that make it hard to stay present and enjoy your life to the fullest
-
feeling down . . . down enough that you are having trouble doing the things you need to do and the things you want to do
-
noticing your mood is all over the place and you don't know why. Or maybe you know why, but that "why" isn't enough to make change
-
feeling anxious and it's showing up in all sorts of ways- sweaty palms and a racing heart, procrastination, overworking, or insomnia
-
feeling a little at sea- whether it's in your relationships, your identity, or your job. Maybe you're having trouble taking next steps or connecting with people in your life

Whatever is bringing you here, I look forward to learning more about you and how we can work together!

There are so many different therapy modalities! Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Your therapy and the approaches we take will be unique to you and your needs. Here are a few I use often!

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." – Carl Rogers.

About Me

In therapy, I'm warm, supportive, caring, and direct. Therapy usually starts with checking in and seeing how you're doing! If you have something new that's come up since last session, let's talk about it! I'm good at bringing immediate concerns back to the bigger picture so we can help you reach your goals. I often use humor, and I show up as my authentic self just the way I hope you will.
Learn more about my values below!
I graduated from UGA in 2022 with a Masters of Social Work. Since then, I've worked at inpatient, PHP, and IOP levels of care treating OCD, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have led CBT, DBT, and Mindfulness, and trauma groups, given presentations on anxiety to families, and guided family sessions to help loved ones understand how to support their person.

Before going back to school to become a therapist, I worked for almost 10 years as a museum educator! I still love museums, history, art, archaeology, and paleontology (just as a tourist now)!
Values
A big part of what drew me to Social Work was its Code of Ethics. The Six Core Values and their corresponding Ethical Principles resonate deeply with me and inform my practice as a therapist.

Service
Social workers’ primary goal is to help people in need and to address social problems

Importance of Human Relationships
Social workers recognize the central importance of human relationships.

Social Justice
Social workers challenge social injustice.

Integrity
Social workers behave in a trustworthy manner.

Dignity and Worth of the Person
Social workers respect the inherent dignity and worth of the person.

Competence
Social workers practice within their areas of competence and develop and enhance their professional expertise.
I believe that you are the expert in your own life and that you already have strength and wisdom in you. I believe that understanding your identities will be important in our work.
I believe in the importance of understanding my own identities and privilege through education, therapy, and consultation. I continue my work in learning about ways to make my therapy anti-racist and anti-oppressive. I welcome questions about my identities and values from the first consultation call and throughout our sessions.
